Deuel County Highway Superintendent Job Description
To all Deuel County landowners and tenants:
Roadway and intersection visibility is important for the safety of the motoring public. It is illegal to plant crops, including corn, within County rights-of-way. It is prohibited by Nebraska State Statute ยง39-301 and violators are subject to prosecution. Immediate action by landowners and tenants to clear any obstructions is necessary or the County may remove the obstruction and recover the costs from the responsible party.
BY ORDER OF THE DEUEL COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS RESPONSIBILTIES OF THE DEUEL COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
The primary responsibility of the Deuel County Highway Department is the safety of the traveling public by maintaining roads and bridges. Other responsibilities include signing, graveling, mowing, paving, drainage, snow removal, bridge inspections, and culvert repair/replacement. The Highway Superintendent works with 8 employees in 4 grading districts.
Deuel County has a total of 537.56 miles of county roads to maintain. This is made up of 61.54 miles of minimum maintenance, 450.27 miles graveled surface, and 25.75 miles asphalt.
It is also the responsibility of the Deuel County Highway Department to prepare the annual report, annual budget, one- and six-year road plan and report directly to the County Commissioners.

- Utility Permit (for placing utilities in R.O.W.)
